Totally Worth All the Challenges

October 26, 2025
Dear Friends,
It was totally worth it! All seventeen of our volunteer missionaries say the same thing. Despite the heat, the tiredness, the uncomfortable sleeping conditions, the many changed lives make it all worth these challenges. Our headquarters are located in Curitiba, Parana, in southern Brazil. Several geographical factors contribute to give Curitiba a pleasant climate, almost year-round. But we don’t have to travel very far to find hot and dry or hot and humid conditions. This last month’s mission included both of those. Part of the work was actually in a desert area. Our team has learned to focus on the people’s spiritual needs to the point that they can ignore the physical discomfort and show Christ’s love to those who so desperately need it. The Lord in His goodness blessed the efforts and many people came to know Christ as their Savior.
In order to receive invitations to minister in the public schools and city squares, Projeto Vida (Project Life) has developed a platform that makes it attractive, even essential, to public leaders. The gospel skits are based on societal struggles from people’s daily lives like drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, molestation, and bullying. In all the skits, having Jesus as Lord and Savior is the solution to these problems and the only answer for eternal peace with God. It always amazes us how He uses such simple and humble efforts to open hearts and impact lives. Our missionaries spend much time in prayer before the presentations and demonstrate genuine love for those to whom they are ministering. This past month we had the joy of seeing several hundred young people trust Christ with their eternal destiny.
I do need to ask if you might be led of the Lord to help with the repairs and maintenance on our travel van and equipment trailer that suffered from the many miles on the highways? This last trip was over 3,000 miles total. Many of the highways that were traveled on are not well paved and they damage the suspension and wheels of both vehicles. If you’d like to help, please send your contribution designated, “Projeto Vida” and we will get our equipment back in tip-top shape.
Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

Gospel Outreach to the Unreached

September 30, 2025
Dear Friends,
Two of our newest church plants held evangelistic events recently and the Lord blessed with wonderful results. Beyond the great attendance, the lives that were transformed by the preaching and teaching of God’s word greatly encourages us and our ministry partners. Pastors, Daniel and Cledson, along with their dear wives, Nany and Fabiane, pour their time, energy, gifts and resources into the work with joy and enthusiasm and the Lord has truly blessed that. Just as in the USA, the next few months of the year will be filled with holidays and special events. Their churches will be very actively planning and putting together programs designed to get the gospel to as many unreached people as possible. Please pray for the success of these outreach efforts.
I (Bobby) have the privilege to do “mission work” in the USA among a group of Brazilians who have legally moved to Virginia on work visas. They have specialty jobs building Volvo semi-tractor trucks. A dear friend and ministry partner, Rodrigo Ferreira, and his dear wife, Carol, have evangelized and are teaching a good-sized group from Brazil under the leadership of Jared Via, pastor of Hope Valley Baptist Church. This group has grown continually, and I will be speaking at an outreach program designed for couples. Although they all speak English as a second language, I will be preaching and teaching in Portuguese, since that is their heart language. Quite a few of those who will be in attendance are not evangelicals, so my focus will be to share the gospel as well as teach God’s principles of marriage.
Our traveling outreach team had a very fruitful month of ministry. They worked in three cities on the western side of the state of Parana, Brazil. In all, they shared the gospel with over 5,290 people and the Lord blessed by bringing many of these to repentance and salvation. In every school where they minister, a questionnaire is given to the leaders and administrators. In it, there are options for comments and suggestions. As I read those comments, I couldn’t help but notice that these are coming from public schools, and there was not one negative statement. In fact, all of them show gratitude for our team’s presence and impact on their schools. We will only know in heaven just how many of the students and faculty fully surrendered to Christ, but we are certain that there are many. May the Lord continue to use and bless Projeto Vida with these outreach opportunities.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

Joy Uncontainable: 64 Souls Saved, Even Where Darkness Tried to Dwell

August 30, 2025
I will never tire of seeing the expression of joy on the face of someone when they realize that they have been saved by God’s grace. Charlene and I had this privilege multiple times this month as we ministered together with a team from Virginia and our evangelistic team, Projeto Vida. As we shared our own testimony, or as we translated for some American teen, we watched as God worked in the hearts and minds of many hearers. We were blessed to have 64 people profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in public schools.
Before we went to one of the schools that we ministered in, we received news that we would have to be very careful not to attempt to evangelize the students openly. There was some concern from a person in an administrative position at the school who is involved in witchcraft and demonic worship. They had raised an objection to our team being permitted to go into the school to preach. We all prayed earnestly before we went and while we ministered as well. The result was that the teachers and students loved our team’s dramatic presentation of the gospel and the personal interaction with them afterward. Although satanic forces were against us, we had the joy of seeing 4 people at that school surrender to Christ. In addition to the celebration of these new believers entering the family of God, we are also encouraged by the boldness that these teenage evangelists have developed through their experience in the public arena. It is our prayer that they will trust the Lord to use them anytime they are willing to obey Him and share the gospel, in Brazil, or with their fellow students in the USA.
We are blessed to partner with some amazingly dedicated and humble servants of the Lord. We are also very grateful and appreciative to you who prays and gives so that we can apply ourselves to this mission effort. May the Lord richly bless you.
Thank you!
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

Celebrating 40 Years of Gospel Ministry in Brazil—and the Story’s Still Unfolding

June 29, 2025
I can hardly believe it, but it was 40 years ago that Charlene and I arrived in Brazil as young (in our mid-twenties) missionaries. The Lord has blessed us with the privilege of making Him known to thousands of Brazilians during these years. We are thankful that He still sees fit to use us for His glory in sharing the gospel and assist in planting New Testament churches.
A little different from my usual reports, I wanted to share with you a testimonial from a mission team volunteer who was with us recently. This report comes from Janet, a grandmother who came and spent a week with us in evangelistic outreach in public schools and parks. In Janet’s own words:
“For many years, my husband and I have been very blessed to go on mission trips together. On our recent trip to Brazil, we had the privilege of going into junior and senior high schools with missionaries Bobby and Charlene Wacaser and Projeto Vida. We had the freedom to share what Jesus meant to us and what He could do for each of them. One particular day, I was asked if I would share the Gospel to a very large group of students and teachers. I was okay sharing in small groups, but I was not so sure about sharing with the entire school assembly.
As the program of Gospel skits and testimonies began, I watched the faces of those teens. Many of them were in tears. The Holy Spirit was already beginning to touch hearts. It was then that I was reminded that many years ago as a young 16 year-old, I was as lost, desperate and lonely as many of these young people were. I was searching for something, or someone, to fill the great void in my heart. Then someone shared with me that Jesus was the only One who could rescue me. In that moment, the quiet voice of Jesus spoke to my heart to remind that these precious teenagers of Brazil needed to be rescued as well. They needed someone to tell them that Jesus loved them and gave His life for them. I am so thankful that so many of these young people surrendered their hearts and lives to Jesus that day. After the program, dozens and dozens of them stayed around to meet in small groups to speak one-on-one. It was such a joy to rejoice with them about the decision they had made to follow Jesus. It was also a great reminder to me that, “…how can they believe in Him if they have not heard of Him? And how can they hear of Him, unless someone tells them?” Romans 10:14.
I am so grateful that God can use even me.” – Janet Via
In just a few weeks, we will be hosting another group from the church where Janet is a member, and we pray that many souls will be saved and that the lives of those who come to minister will also be blessed by faithfully sharing the Gospel to the lost in our city.
Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support. May the Lord richly bless.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

Faithful Through Every Challenge: God’s Grace Sustains Ministry Leaders

May 26, 2025
Dear Friends,
I spoke with three of our local pastors this week about their ministry needs and progress. As I reflected on what they shared with me, I was reminded that we all have similar challenges. Of course, each leader’s situation has some unique details, but the general challenges are very similar. Each of us deals with tight budgets, each of us deals with a few people who are obstinate or divisive, each of us deals with health struggles, either our own, or those of a close family or church member. What I was encouraged by, though, was how each of these men sees God’s grace and provision in the middle of their circumstances, and they remain faithful, and even excited, about all that God is doing in and through them. The Lord is blessing continuously in all our ministries. Our traveling evangelistic team, Projeto Vida, was invited to present gospel skits, personal testimonies, and to share God’s word one-on-one with over 2500 students and staff members in public schools and gyms this past month. At least 61 individuals from among that group confessed publicly that Jesus Christ was their Lord and Savior!
We thank and praise God for these conversions and for the privilege to make Him known to so many unreached people. Our team of young men and women who live with so little of this world’s “material” things is such a joyful example of a life surrendered to Christ. I am honored to know them and minister beside them.
We are still praying for Yago and Manoela in Portugal, and their “almost here” baby girl, Esther. We are still praying for the Lord to do what only He can do, and that is to bless Esther’s final days of development so that she is born fully developed. The doctors have grave concerns about the lower part of her spinal column not being completely developed, which would almost certainly leave her with a great degree of limited mobility from her hips down. Please pray with us for a miracle from our loving and powerful Father for Esther and her parents. They continue to serve their congregation faithfully.
Charlene and I are so grateful to you who pray for us faithfully and give so that we may continue to live for His honor and glory.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

Churches in Brazil Continue to Grow with National Pastors

April 3, 2025
We were pleased that our evangelistic partners from Roanoke, Virginia, were able to spend almost a week in ministry with our outreach team last month. The Lord blessed in so many ways. More than one hundred people surrendered to Christ through the gospel being shared in the schools and parks in a neighboring city, Araucaria. Our volunteers loved the time and effort spent with that team and look forward to future opportunities. One detail that stood out to me was how all four of them, though grandparents, were used so effectively among the youth of Brazil. We know that, first of all, God was working after much prayer in preparation for their trip. But I also believe that their compassion for the lost and their incredible work ethic and effort to get the word out to as many as possible were used of God for others to see Him in them. We have partnered with youth groups many times in the past, and will do so again, but observing grandparents like these minister with the passion and diligence these good folk demonstrated is inspiring.
Our traveling evangelistic team, Projeto Vida, just returned from their first full month of ministry in public schools for 2025 (the school year here begins in the middle of February). I was amazed at how the Lord opens doors of opportunity to get the gospel to so many people who may never set foot inside a church building. During this trip, our team had the privilege of sharing the gospel in 11 public schools, reaching 3056 people. Of those present, 203 professed publicly that they were trusting in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Our partnering pastors now have the contact information of these new converts and will begin the discipleship process with them for continued growth in Christ. We are expecting an amazing year of fruit for God’s glory.
I spoke with two of our national pastors this month and their reports are very encouraging. In Northern Brazil, the Nova Igreja Batista of Itacoatiara is experiencing some impressive growth. Pastor Daniel Sombra and his wife, Neuliane have a new baby girl and a lot of new baby Christians to minister to. They are having to add on to their church building to accommodate the new growth, thanks to God.
Pastor Cledson and his team in Curitiba put together a couples’ dinner for outreach and marriage counseling. The church continues to grow under his faithful leadership.
Charlene and I want to thank you for your prayers and loving support.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

109 Profess Faith in Christ in Southern Brazilian Vacation Town

March 3, 2025
Dear Friends,
Everybody needs a little vacation time, of course, but I’m glad that Brazil’s summer vacation has come to an end. Remembering that, south of the equator, the seasons are the opposite of those in the USA. Fall is beginning and students are returning to school, our main venue for evangelistic outreach. We did take advantage of the summer break, though, to host a volunteer missionary training seminar and the results were wonderful. After two weeks of study on the biblical foundation of missions and evangelism, we took our team of 17 full-time missionaries and 16 first-time volunteers to a vacation town on the coast of southern Brazil to minister in the public squares and parks. Our team had the opportunity to share the gospel to over 1600 people. Of these, there were 109 who made a public profession of faith in Jesus. There were also 79 more who rededicated their lives to Christ who realized that they had left their first love and were living in disobedience to God. Now that the summer break is over, though, we have the whole school year scheduled for gospel presentations to thousands of students and staff. Please pray that the Lord will use our teams to bring many of them to a saving knowledge of Christ.
Yago and Manoela are doing well in Portugal. Not without extreme trials, though. I shared last month that they got the news that Manoela was pregnant and that they are both very excited about the coming of their first baby. A few weeks ago, Manoela experienced some strange pains and discomfort and sought medical attention. Not to go into details, I ask that you pray for the Lord to miraculously heal Manoela and her baby. Both are in grave danger of loss of life. They were counseled to abort the baby, but they both refused to do this. May the Lord do what only He can do.
A group of our missions partners are scheduled to arrive in Curitiba this week for a week of evangelistic ministry with Projeto Vida, our outreach team. We are excited to see all that God will do through them together as they share the gospel in several public schools and parks. We know that they will be both a blessing and be blessed as they allow the Lord to use them in this ministry.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser

18 New Apprentices in Training & Sharing the Gospel

February 2, 2025
Dear Friends,
I was in Brazil the last couple of weeks training a new group of missionary volunteers for this new year. Our traveling evangelism ministry partner, Projeto Vida, tries to put together at least two training seminars per year: one in January and one in July. This past month we had 18 new volunteer apprentices coming from four different states. A couple of other veteran missionaries and I were the speakers/mentors for this conference. We spent one week in the biblical study of missions and evangelism and then the students accompanied our experienced team of missionaries on a 10-hour trip to the southernmost state of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul. There in a coastal city called Canoas, they spent the final week in one-on-one evangelism and outreach. The Lord blessed tremendously in at least two predominant ways: Lost listeners heard the gospel message and surrendered their lives to Christ and, also, our new volunteers were overwhelmed with how much the Lord used them to share the love of Jesus to the lost and are excited about getting out there and participating more.
While in Brazil, my former co-pastor, now senior pastor, invited me to speak to my former church. The good folks gave me such a warm reception. It was very encouraging to see how well Cledson has taken up the reins and how well he and his wife, Fabiane, are leading the church. One of the impressive details about Cledson’s leadership is how he guided the church through a very difficult and painful move to other facilities. I know how hard that can be since I’ve done it a couple of times throughout our ministry. It was clear that the Lord was doing the leading, because of the better location and lower costs. The former building was located quite a distance from a major road or street, but their new location is right in front of a main city bus terminal and a neighborhood park. During the course of a week, tens of thousands of residents pass right in front of the new location. The park also offers ample opportunities for evangelistic outreach through social interaction with the visitors and residents. And, as I mentioned, this better location also comes with a better price. God is so good!
I spoke with Yago and Manoela, our missionaries to Portugal this week. They shared the news that Manoela’s pregnancy is going fine. Yago got some good news about his “tent-making” vocational income as well. Microsoft Portugal has handed him a new set of working orders which assure that they will continue to receive a good portion of their financial support for an extended period. He had told me a couple of months ago that they had not received any contract information, and they were concerned that their income might cease. Yago conveyed to me, though, that he and Manoela were certain that the Lord was not finished using them in Portugal yet, so they were prayerfully seeking His leading and sustenance. With this new work order information, they can rejoice now that the Lord has confirmed their presence there for some time. We continue to pray for them to win lost Portuguese people to Christ and to build the church there.
On a personal note: After nearly three months, Charlene and I were able to move out of the hotel back into our home. The repairs after Hurricane Milton are nearly done, lacking only the kitchen cabinet tops and a little bit of electrical work. We still have not had much success getting our insurance companies to pay their due protection, but we will continue to appeal the process and pray that the Lord will lead us to a viable solution.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and kind support. We pray that 2025 will be a year full of ministry opportunities and results.
In Christ’s love,
Bobby and Charlene Wacaser
