YOUR DECEMBER GENERAL FUND OFFERINGS!

After recording a record-low Monthly General Fund Offering in November 2013, the Lord gave Grace and you responded with a record-high Monthly General Fund Offering in December!  $50,922.21!  We praise God and thank you for responding to God’s Grace in such a generous manner.

First, there were all of your regular and faithful monthly offerings to the General Fund which supply all of our missionaries’ essential and basic needs month by month [such as salary, standard expense allowances, hospitalization premiums, etc].  I hope you will join us as we scan through all the monthly General Fund offerings and thank God for each one.

Then, others of you responded with most-gracious end-of-year gifts.  Please take the time right now to scan through those same offerings and thank God for them, too!  All of these offerings together will not only supply the missionaries’ Essential Maintenance Transactions for this month, but whatever “baskets of fragments” we have left over after this month will be carried over to future months to supply any lacks we may suffer in the Monthly General Fund Offering for that month.

You can give online by going to our website: baptistfaithmissions.org and click on the ‘Donate/Support’ tab.  Designate your offering for ‘General Fund’.  Thank you on behalf of our missionaries!

2013-14 THANKSGIVING OFFERING UPDATE:  $43,738.41

We have received two months’ Thanksgiving Offerings:  November, $17,036.91 and December, $26,701.50.  That brings us to a total of $43,738.41.

Just to give you a little comparison perspective – the 2012-13 Thanksgiving Offering was $52,348.17 and we ran out of those funds before 2013 was completed.  This year’s offering so far – where it stands now – is still $9,000.00 below last year’s total amount.

So, will you please help us with your continued offerings to the Thanksgiving Offering?  We use the funds we receive from the Thanksgiving Offering to supply the other services, benefits, and commitments we make to our missionaries which are not supplied from the Monthly General Fund Offering.

When we don’t receive sufficient Thanksgiving Offering funds, we can’t grant the missionaries’ requests for those benefits we otherwise would give them to help relieve that additional financial burden on them.

2014 is shaping up to be a demanding year for those needs – so please help your missionaries all you can!

NOTE:  the Thanksgiving Offering is always open any time for your contributions.  Just designate your offering: ‘Thanksgiving Offering’ and it will be applied and included.  We must receive a very generous Thanksgiving Offering to give our missionaries the services and benefits we have committed to give them “as the Lord provides”.  The Lord provides through our sharing of the Grace He has given us.

“I speak not be commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.”  [2 Corinthians 8.8].

“For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the Gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; and by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding Grace of God in you.” [2 Corinthians 9.12-14].

You can also contribute online at baptistfaithmissions.org on the ‘Donate/Support’ tab. Designate your offering for ‘Thanksgiving Offering’. Thank You! on behalf of our missionaries!

Missionary Update: The Stantons in Peru [January 2014]

Sheridan and Anita Stanton have served the Lord in Peru since 1983. Their main ministry is church planting and they have helped establish churches all over the country. Sheridan also works to train pastors and Anita works with the ladies’ ministry and developing children’s material.

 January 6, 2014

Dear friends,

Well we finally got the roof poured with concrete on the first floor of the new building for the Calvary Baptist Mission.  It is in the curing process now for a few weeks.  We rejoice in the Lord that He has provided up to this important point.  Ebenezer (you Bible scholars will understand that one!).  The biggest part of a building project is the first floor because you have to dig the footers and foundation, all of which takes a lot of hand-mixed cement.  I sure missed my concrete crews from the States.  You all know who you are!  Building permits, architectural plans, electric and water connections – all done.

Any of you men in the States know how to hang drywall?  It is a new building concept here in Peru and none of our people know how to do it.  I’m hoping a small crew might get together in March and come down for a week to help and teach us how to hang drywall.  It would also give you an opportunity to leave all that cold weather in the States right now!  Temperatures average here in Huánuco between 70 – 85 degrees all year long.  Any takers?

We are trusting the Lord that continued funds will come in to help us finish this building.  At present we have spent all we had for this project.  Every bit helps!  The building is designed for four floors because the lot is relatively small.  Each roof poured on each floor cost about $6000.00 and we are sure that the Lord will continue to bless with additional funds.  Thanks.

We had one young lady accept Christ as her Savior two weeks ago and it looks like she will be the first baptism of 2014.  We rejoice in all of God’s blessings upon His work here in Peru.

The mission works around the country are experiencing growth, both numerically and spiritually.  Anita and I have the joy of supporting eleven national Peruvian missionaries.  This is possible with the funds that we receive from you dear saints of God.  We know times are rough in the States right now and we are very much aware of the many sacrifices folks from our supporting churches are giving.  So many of the dear saints of God here in Peru also, give and sacrifice in the work of the Lord.  Please know we love you all and thank God for you.  Let us rejoice knowing that we all have our part in the spreading of the Gospel message and God’s love, throughout the country of Peru, and around the world.

With the blessings come the trials and Anita and I ask you to pray for us as we are experiencing an attack of slander aimed at destroying our ministry and therefore the work here in Huánuco.  Our Heavenly Father protects us and strengthens us.  However, Anita and I both have our moments of anger, depression and sadness.  It has, however, been very encouraging to see, hear and feel the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ all around us here in Huánuco.  Please lift us up in your prayers that the trials might soon be over.  Thank you and may God continue to bless you all.  Until next month.

Being “In Christ” by God’s grace,

NOVEMBER MONTHLY GENERAL FUND OFFERING – RECORD LOW

We want to thank everyone of you who faithfully and regularly gives to the Monthly General Fund offerings. Your offerings literally keep our missionaries on their fields of service and ‘keep the lights on’ for their daily living and ministry expenses. You sustain and maintain them. “Thank You!” again and again!

The Monthly General Fund offerings are necessary – and are used – to provide the Essential Maintenance Transactions [EMT] that our missionaries must have to sustain their most basic and essential expenses: salary, housing, ministry expenses, hospitalization premiums, and correspondence. Without these provisions, they cannot continue doing what they do.

November’s Monthly General Fund [$23,197.61] was the least Monthly General Fund Offering we have record of receiving – and our present accounting system goes back more than 10 years. This is a most unenviable record to set. If our Monthly General Fund Offering does not meet the threshold amount of the above monthly disbursements, then we must reduce those same committed disbursements proportionately and equitably among our missionaries to make up for the deficit. This month’s deficit [December’s disbursements are made from November’s offerings] was $12,359.92. We thank God that this month we had extraordinary gift funds available to make up that deficit so we didn’t have to deduct it from our missionaries’ monthly deposits. [See the article “GRATITUDE FOR A GENEROUS BEQUEST”].

Please give to the General Fund so your missionaries can pursue their daily lives and ministries without this distraction. Give by the Grace of God – to the Glory of God! You can give online by going to our website: baptistfaithmissions.org and click on the ‘Donate/Support’ tab. Designate your offering for ‘General Fund’. Thank you on behalf of our missionaries!

2013-14 THANKSGIVING OFFERING UPDATE: $17,036.91

We have begun giving to our 2013-14 THANKSGIVING OFFERING with last month’s offerings. Those offerings listed in this month’s Mission Sheets are just the ‘firstfruits’ and initial offerings we have received to date. We are asking God to multiply this amount several times before it is completed.

“I speak not be commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.” [2 Corinthians 8:8]

“For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the Gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; and by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding Grace of God in you.” [2 Corinthians 9.12-14]

PLEASE PRAY FOR GLENN ARCHER
We encourage you to pray with us on behalf of a very dear friend, Pastor Glenn Archer. He is suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis and his health and strength is growing progressively weaker. His disease is irreversible and incurable. Glenn served as a Director of Baptist Faith Missions for 34 years (1978-2012) and as our Treasurer for 11 years (1991-2002). He has also planted and pastored churches in Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Missouri. His physical condition has so weakened that he is on oxygen-assist 24/7 on maximum output most of the time. He struggles for every breath. Every movement and activity exhausts him. But, he continues to be an encourager to all of his brothers and sisters in Christ. Please ask our Lord to give him daily strength according to his needs – and Grace to strengthen his heart of faith in Christ. You may correspond with him at: 502 Nuckols OBCC Road, Calhoun KY 42327 / glennarcher0[at]gmail.com. He may not have strength to respond, but he will appreciate hearing from you. Please ask the Lord also to strengthen and encourage Judy, his loving wife and faithful caregiver.

GIVING GOD THANKS FOR A GENEROUS BEQUEST

Baptist Faith Missions was blessed recently with a very generous gift in the form of a bequest. Ernest and Helen Palmer were members of a long-time supporting church in Lexington KY and have known, loved, and befriended the missionaries associated with BFM for over 50 years. During their lifetimes, they invested some of their funds in Certificates of Deposit (CD) and designated Baptist Faith Missions as the beneficiary of those CDs. Those same funds were available to them while they lived if needed to provide for their own needs. Mr. Palmer went to be with the Lord a few years ago, and then Mrs. Palmer was called Home to Heaven this year.

When their estate was executed, those CDs were presented to BFM. After we fulfilled some specific requests which accompanied the bequest (for our missionaries), we are using the remainder of this gift to provide other needs to benefit our missionaries. [1] We have reimbursed our missionaries for the $10,872.74 we had to assess on their monthly deposits over 2013. During three months of 2013, when our monthly General Fund offerings were not sufficient to meet their monthly support disbursements from the General Fund, we had to reduce their monthly deposits proportionately among them to cover those deficits. We kept careful records of how much was reduced from each missionary’s deposits for each of those months – and those reductions were reimbursed to them out of this gift. [2] We have covered that same deficit in this month of December for their monthly deposits. Our General Fund offerings for this month lacked $12,359.92 to meet the threshold for what we must receive in order to give our missionaries the full amounts of the monthly support commitments we make to them. So, rather than additionally deduct and reduce their monthly deposits again this month – we supplied that deficit from this same gift.

Not only do our missionaries deeply appreciate this gift, but GOD LOVES THESE CHEERFUL GIVERS ALSO! [2 Corinthians 9.7]. And, SO DO MULTITUDES OF ‘ETERNAL FRIENDS’ WHO WILL BE IN HEAVEN THROUGH THE GOSPEL MINISTRIES CONDUCTED THROUGH THE USE OF THESE OFFERINGS! Please read Luke 16.9. When you give to missions and the ministry of the Gospel, God uses your offerings to bring the lost to faith in Jesus Christ. And, when you go Home to Heaven, those who were saved through your giving will welcome you into our Everlasting Home!

THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO, TOO! WILL YOU?

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! “TEXAS GIVING FRIENDS”!

We want to give a tribute to some of the very best and most gracious “Giving Friends” BFM has ever had. We won’t use their real names because they have never wanted to be known or recognized by their names. But, years ago, I asked them if we could call them “Texas Giving Friends”, and they said we could. So, for years, they have been listed in our Mission Sheets Contribution Record as “Texas Giving Friends”. They began giving personal offerings to BFM over 50 years ago and have continued that ministry of generosity over all these years.

Generous offerings. Sacrificial offerings. And not just to BFM, but they have also given equally generously to a number of other Gospel missions ministries, especially in Mexico. And the fruits of the churches and ministries to which they have contributed are still growing, still producing, and still bearing fruit for eternal life and the Glory of Christ.

Over the course of 2013, it became necessary for both of these dear ‘Giving Friends’ to receive long-term elder-care in private nursing and assisted-living facilities. [Our Brother ‘Texas Giving Friend’ was called Home to Heaven in October]. At that time, much to their own regret, it became necessary to suspend their giving to BFM. But, their son wrote me at that time with these words and prayer: “This was a very difficult decision for the family to make, so we will be praying and expecting that God will raise up someone new; not just to fill the void they leave, but will multiply their giving in an unusual and abundant way in Jesus’ Name.”

God has kept very careful records and has tracked everywhere their offerings have gone, and the souls that have been saved, and the works that have been done through their investments in the Kingdom of God. “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” [Philippians 4.17] God knows – and only God knows – the numbers of those who have heard the Gospel through the ministries financed by their offerings…and have come to faith in Christ…and are in Heaven – or will be in Heaven – because they gave. In Luke 16.9, our Lord made this promise and gave us this assurance: “And I say unto you, ‘Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness [our giving]; that when ye fail [die from here, and go Home to Heaven], they may receive you into everlasting habitations.’ ”

IS GOD CALLING YOU TO COME AND TAKE THEIR PLACE AND STAND IN THIS GAP BY GIVING TO THE BFM GENERAL FUND? WILL YOU ANSWER ‘YES!’?

Pray for the McGarys

We sadly report that Ross McGary went to be with the Lord Monday, December 2. He had suffered a massive stroke a few days ago, from which he never recovered here. Ross is son-in-law to John and Alta Hatcher. His wife, Lynn, went to be with the Lord in 2009. Ross is also brother to Wanda Hatcher. Pray for their children, and for all of the family members during this time of their need of the Grace of God.

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Pray for the Archers

GLENN ARCHER
Bobby Creiglow and Dave Parks visited with Glenn Archer on Monday, December 2. We so much enjoyed our time together. We re-visited many of our past fellowship experiences together. We rejoiced in the promises of God’s Grace, the Hope of the Gospel, the Glory of the Presence of God [both here and now and forever], and sang songs together. Brother Glenn is very weak from the progressing effects of his Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is both incurable and irreversible. He is on maximum-level oxygen-assist 24/7. The only way he can breathe with any degree of comfort now is laid back in a recliner with his feet elevated. Even if he tries to sit upright, he has to gasp and blow for breath. Any movement, activity, or exercise exhausts his supply of oxygen. He has to be wheeled in a wheelchair from one room and location to another in their apartment. He got up to go to worship this past Sunday morning, and couldn’t make it even to the door to step out to the car which Judy always pulls up for him right outside their door. I know you are praying for him – and also for Judy – and that you will continue to do so. You may correspond with them via email – but Glenn’s response to you will depend upon his daily strength. glennarcher0[at]gmail.com

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Missionary Update: The Radfords on Furlough from Kenya [December 2013]

Nathan and Carrie Radford serve the Lord in Kitale, Kenya. Their main ministries include indigenous church planting, a prison ministry, and a hospital ministry for mothers with premature babies.

December 2, 2013

Dear praying friends,

It is now the end of 2013, and 2014 is quickly approaching. It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. It seems that it was just days ago that we were serving in Kitale, and the time has passed so fast. How we need to serve God with the opportunities that He gives us, before the opportunities pass us by. John 9:4 gives us this challenge: “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” May we serve God while it is still day and He gives us the opportunities.

We wish each of you a great holiday season. May we not forget the true reason for the Christmas holiday, the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is easy to get wrapped up into many other things during this time of year, but may we remember His birth and celebrate it this season.

I am happy to report that our final need, the need for housing, has been supplied. We thank each of you who have prayed for us, offered to assist, or tried to help in any way that you could. We greatly appreciate it. We trusted the Lord to provide, and He is so faithful. Psalm 89:8 states “O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto Thee? or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?” What a faithful God we serve. Now we ask you to pray for us in this upcoming furlough time of traveling, reporting to churches, and trusting the Lord. It will be challenging, as my wife is involved with homeschooling, but we trust in Him at all times.

We are thankful again to each of you so much for all that you do for us. In these times of economic challenges, we know that you give sacrificially to the Lord’s work in Kenya. We cannot say thank you enough. To those who pray for us faithfully, we greatly covet your prayers and we cannot say thank you enough. To those who have a heart for missions and His work in Africa, we cannot say thank you enough. You are all such a blessing and we thank the Lord for you. If any of you would like to schedule a time to come to your church to present the ministries in Kenya, I can be reached at: naterad[at]yahoo.com. I would love to talk with you if you would be interested.

Lord willing, we will be in the States until the beginning of June.
Have a great Christmas holiday with friends and family and also a great 2014.
May we serve Him faithfully until He comes. God bless you all.

Serving in Kitale,
Nathan and Carrie Radford
