An Appeal to PRAY!
AN APPEAL TO PRAY
“You can do more than pray, after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed” [John Bunyan]
I’m going to appeal to you this month maybe a little differently than we usually do. Every month, we are updating you on the on-going financial needs our missionaries face to maintain and increase their ministries.
I hope you keep all the issues of the Mission Sheets for reference. I am repeating all those same appeals. The needs are still current – the appeals stand. But, I’m going to ask you also TO PRAY TO GOD AND ASK HIM TO SUPPLY OF ALL THESE NEEDS.
I know you pray already. I can assure you that our missionaries do – and we Directors do as well. But, I really believe that IF WE ALL COVENANT TOGETHER AND PRAY TO THE FATHER IN CONCERT – HE WILL RESPOND.
Does our Lord Jesus not promise that He and the Father will reward us ‘OPENLY’ if we pray and ask Him ‘IN SECRET’? What is His ‘reward’? It is HIS ANSWER AND RESPONSE TO OUR ASKINGS IN SECRET! Please meditate on His promises in Matthew 6.6; 7.7-12; 18.18-20 – and especially on Jesus’ commission and promise in John 14.12-14. Does our Lord not promise us in all these Scriptures that if we will pray to Him in our secret places – that He will respond out here in the open works of His Kingdom? He does!
Here is what OUR PRAYING TO GOD TOGETHER ABOUT OUR NEEDS will work among us:
[1] It will help us stay focused on this constant need
[2] It will keep our attention on God Who alone can supply all these needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus
[3] It will stir up the interest and love of our own hearts to respond to the need
[4] It will magnify God’s Grace, promote His Glory, and increase Thanksgiving to Him.
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, ‘He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever. Now He that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us THANKSGIVING TO GOD.”
