Moving North: Ways to Pray

Daniel & Kendle Akers are heading from Kentucky to Montreal, Québec, Canada in July 2026 to help plant churches and share the Gospel in one of North America’s most unreached cities.

Bonjour !

God has opened a door to serve Him in Montreal, Quebec and my family and I are incredibly thankful to Him for His provision and excited for the opportunity. And though exciting, as we are getting ready to officially make the move north, there are moments in which we can easily resort to the flesh and become overwhelmed.

As I am writing this brief note, we are currently in Lexington, KY, trying to give away the furniture we are not taking with us, putting together things that my mom has graciously offered to store for us, and clean the parsonage that Heritage Baptist has allowed us to stay in. We are looking, if the Lord allows, to begin our trek up north next week. And as we prepare for this move, I would covet your prayers.

Please pray:

  • That we will have a safe journey as we travel. For the kids’ sake, we will break the trip up into a few days.
  • That when we get to the border that there be no issue as I am issued a clergy visa, and that we can make it to our new home.
  • For our children (Haddon, Piper, and Samuel). Their whole world is about to be flipped upside down, that God would continue to pour out His grace on them and sustain them.
  • For Kendle as she begins the arduous work of making the house into a home, and as she prepares to homeschool the kids.
  • For us all as we will also get right to work and begin to learn the French language. We are thankful that the church I will have the privilege of serving is an English speaking church, but our desire is to proclaim the Gospel to the entire city. Thus, French is necessary, as it is the official language.
  • Pray for the people we will have the opportunity to minister to; that those with faith are discipled and faithful, and that the unsaved hear the Gospel, and that God calls in His elect.

In all of this I am often reminded of Psalm 37:5, “Commit your way to the LORD, trust in Him, and He will act.” He has been faithful to this point, and I know He will continue to faithfully act, for our good and His glory.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Daniel Akers
